Wilmington City Council, District 1
Help elect Coby
As an advocate, and community organizer, Coby has dedicated his life to public service. He has lived in Wilmington all his life, and organizes throughout Delaware to make sure every person has a voice in the policies that affect their daily lives. He is running for Wilmington City Council’s 1st District because he believes that we need a voice on council that reflects the experiences and values of working families across Delaware.
Wilmington is his home and Coby loves his community. While Wilmington has taken steps to revitalize the downtown business district to foster new growth, residents are left out of decision making. He knows that we can do better. We need a Wilmington that works for all of us, not just the few.
Coby’s life has been centered around fighting for equitable change. As a Black man in America, the sayings Black lives matter, justice for all, and housing as a human right aren’t just words, they are the voice of the people calling for structural change of a system that targets marginalized communities. Senator Sanders says, in one of Coby’s favorite quotes, that “real change never takes place from the top on down, but always from the bottom on up.” Whether it’s addressing affordable and equitable housing or ending gun violence that has torn so many of our families apart, the solutions come from those who face the issues everyday. As an organizer, Coby has worked within his community to mobilize area issues such as immigration, healthcare and criminal justice reform.
